Edith Wharton’s The Mount Now Open Through February 2018

Edith Wharton's The Mount

Edith Wharton’s historic Lenox estate
is now open through February 2018!

The Mount has extended its season to run through February 2018! This extension presents an unparalleled opportunity to experience Edith Wharton’s historic estate during a beautiful Berkshires winter.

Traditionally, Edith Wharton’s “Berkshire Cottage” is open daily – but only from May through October. This year, they have extended their normal season by four months: Saturdays and Sundays, 11am to 4pm. After February, The Mount will close again until the official start of their 2018 season in May.

Best of all, Brook Farm Inn has discount coupons for The Mount’s extended season! Just let us know you want to visit The Mount during your stay at our Berkshires B&B and they’re yours.

Admission during these special fall and winter hours includes a guided house and library tour. If you’ve never visited The Mount before, you’re in for a real treat.

Touring Edith Wharton’s Berkshire home isn’t like your typical historic mansion tour. No velvet ropes hold you back. In fact, you are encouraged to gently interact with the rooms. Many of Wharton’s original belongings are here, including her original library collection, complete with inscriptions from famous friends and admirers.

Special exhibits are open during this time, as well. “Life in the Dale: Augustus Martin’s Lenox,” is a collection of photographs documenting working-class life in Lenox Dale at the beginning of the 20th century. “Edith Wharton and the First World War” is a timely exhibit that examines a lesser-known chapter of the author’s life.
