“TUB PARADE”…Saturday, September 15, 2012..1:30PM-3PMThe 21st Annual Tub Parade. The carriages (tubs) will start from Shakespeare & Co and will proceed up Kemble street to Walker and to Main Street then right on to Franklin and Church and to Main Street again. They will go around twice and then return to Kemble street and Shakespeare & Co. where there will be a short competition in driving in the field below the Tina Packer Playhouse and then the carriages will be on exhibit.

Special Literary-Themed Weekend.
Nationally acclaimed writers, poets, and readers will gather at The Mount, the spectacular house and gardens designed by Edith Wharton, to celebrate words, ideas, and literature. Writers and poets such as John Berendt, Adam Gopnik, Francine du Plessix Gray, Mary Jo Salter, Matthew Pearl, Claire Messud, Harold Augenbraum, Roxana Robinson, Alison Larkin, Susan Kinsolving, Joshua Henkin, Heidi Julavits, Dani Shapiro, and many others will participate in the weekend lineup of events which includes panels, interviews, readings, and public conversations. The festival will also include many free readings by poets and writers with ties to the Berkshire region.

Electric and acoustic sets will fill the air, while campers enjoy the splendor of the scenic vistas of October Mountain and the nearby wildlife preserve. The “Josh” is the 2nd oldest bike, canoe/kayak, run triathlon in the world! The race begins in Great Barrington, Massachusetts with a 27-mile scenic and challenging bike ride through 5 towns, followed by a 5-mile canoe or kayak sprint around Stockbridge Bowl and is completed with a 6.2-mile run around the lake ending at the Tanglewood Music Festival in Lenox. The “Josh” combines the scenic beauty of the Berkshires with four exciting sports and the result is a great day of competition, fun and camaraderie. Following the race, the Great Josh “Bash” takesplace at Tanglewood with music, food, festivities, the annual Kids Fun Run and awards.
