“The Whipping Man” is being performed at Barrington Stage Co., Pittsfield, MA, now through June 13th. We took a night off from innkeeping at Brook Farm Inn and attended last night’s performance, and found it to be gripping and provocative. At the end of the Civil War, a Jewish soldier returns to his family home in Richmond, abandoned except for two newly freed slaves. The three men share an improvised seder, but deeply buried secrets are revealed that threaten their shared faith. The intimate theater is the perfect place for this drama. www.barringtonstageco.org
